The Ideal Place for Large Family Celebrations in el Quindío
We chose Casa MarVerde in Pueblo Tapao to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday, and it turned out to be the best decision we could have made. It was the perfect setting for such a special celebration, and our family created memories that will last a lifetime. We were around 70 family members and friends who came from the USA, Europe, and Latin America. Some of them rented houses in the Hacienda Condominium and around the Quindío area, but Casa MarVerde became the central gathering place for all of our family get-togethers because of its versatility, excellent accommodations, and wonderful staff.
From the very beginning, Nelson was incredibly helpful and accommodating to all of our needs. He not only welcomed the idea of hosting our family celebration at this beautiful house, but also went above and beyond by providing trusted contacts for catering and party services. His sister Sandra was also kind enough to show the house to my family before we made the decision to rent it, which gave us great peace of mind. When we arrived, Nelson personally met us and gave us a full tour of the property. He took his time explaining everything about the house, sharing stories of his travels, and showing us many of the treasures he has collected from around the world.
Casa MarVerde was perfect for our large family gathering. We stayed comfortably as a family of husband, wife, three adult children, and their respective families. We were also able to have extended family from Colombia stay with us for a couple of nights, which made the experience even more special. Nelson allows daytime visitors, something many other houses in the area did not permit when we inquired. That flexibility made the celebration even more memorable.
The rooms were absolutely amazing. Each bedroom has its own unique theme: Cuba, Latin America, USA, Colombia, Brazil, Asia, and best of all, the main suite is Africa. We have actually been on safari in Mogwase, South Africa, and I can honestly say that every night in that room felt like the real thing. Nelson has done a terrific job designing each room with authentic details and character.
The entire house feels like a fun museum. From the signed Pelé shirt in the main room’s office space to the elephants in the living room, the collector’s carved vases, original artwork, and books signed by their authors, every corner has something interesting to admire. Every day we discover a new item to discuss and appreciate. It truly is a one-of-a-kind property.
A very special mention goes to Paola and Lynda, who were absolutely wonderful. While their irreplaceable service is separate from the house rental, having them there was priceless and truly elevated our stay. They took care of everything related to the house and kitchen, and their knowledge was invaluable, from how to enjoy the jacuzzi to where to shop in town. They prepared every Colombian dish we requested with love and skill: ajiaco, cazuela de frijoles, sancocho, and more. Every day they asked what we would like to eat and were incredibly accommodating with the different schedules and wake-up times of our family members. They are truly irreplaceable. Their dedication was incredible, sometimes we did not have enough time to shop for the day, and they were kind enough to bring items themselves. This is not a service they usually provide, but thanks to their generosity, we were able to enjoy every moment stress-free. They are AWESOME!
The infinity pool adds even more magic to the property, overlooking the beautiful “mar verde” scenery of Quindío. We were able to enjoy spectacular views of the Cordillera, snow-capped volcanoes in the distance, and even the sight of airplanes landing far away, which was surprisingly enjoyable to watch. Every morning we woke up to the peaceful sounds of birds.
We did not get to use the massage room, but my husband and sons really enjoyed the gym and sauna.
We are definitely coming back. In fact, because of the wonderful time everyone had, a couple of bookings are already being arranged by family members who saw how special this place is. My son and his friends are also planning to stay there later this year. That says everything about how much people loved Casa MarVerde.
I honestly do not know what else to add except this: if you have the opportunity, choose this house. Casa MarVerde and its team are the best, Nelson, Sandra, and the irreplaceable Paola and Lynda.
The only small suggestions for improvement would be adding ceiling fans and an outdoor kitchen. Other than that, our 15-day stay was simply unforgettable.
